Biography

Formerly an army installation near Las Vegas, New Mexico, Camp Luna was purchased by the U.S. Forest Service in the 1960's. It was used as a Job Corps camp for young men under the war on poverty program administered by the Office of Economic Opportunity.

The Camp Luna Apartment Complex was a proposal for remodeling the existing brick army structures into apartments. The new apartment complex would alleviate the housing shortage in Las Vegas by providing mid-range housing to Forest Service families relocating for the Job Corps, to university professors, to retirees, and to others interested in living in Las Vegas.
