Organizational History

Living Treasures, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization founded by Mary Lou Cook in 1984, records history interviews of older (70 years plus) citizens of New Mexico. The organization interviews and records the lives and experiences of these elders. They are honored for their work in community affairs, the arts, environmental activism, historic preservation, journalism, medicine, etc. Each year a committee convenes and chooses six citizens to be honored from nominations by the community.
