Personal History

Yvonne Sandoval was born in Espanola, New Mexico, and spent much of her life in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. She became a Carmelite nun in 1962, and took the name of Sister Mary of Jesus. During the 1970s, Sister Mary of Jesus worked with Mother Teresa in the ghettos of New York. She was a volunteer at the Angélico Chávez History Library. She died 24 May 2000.
