Scope and Content

This collection contains copies of correspondence with Charles F. Lummis, Ernest Thompson Seton, and others; correspondence and newspaper clipping about the New Mexico State Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A. R.) in New Mexico, the Folklore Society and fiestas sponsored by them; correspondence with Witter Bynner, Seymour I. Hess and Cassidy about changes to the Acequia Madre in Santa Fe. Also included in the collection are Spanish colonial furniture design drawings and two scrapbooks of letters, reports, newspaper clippings, and drawings covering biographies, points of interests, education, and womens clubs.

Two scrapbooks have been disassembled for preservation purposes, but have been retained in their original order.

Personal History

Ina Sizer Cassidy, a prominent member of the community, was born in1869 on a ranch in Colorado. She moved to Santa Fe in January 1912 where she died in 1965. She was the wife of painter Gerald Cassidy. As a writer on the subjects of artists and art, she served as Director of the Federal Writers Project in New Mexico, wrote articles about art and artists for the New Mexico magazine. She participated in the New Mexico Association on Indian Affairs, the Spanish Colonial Arts Society, the Historical Society of New Mexico, was a founder of the Folklore Society of New Mexico, and was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She became a charter member of the National League of Women Voters in the state, after having participated in the womens suffrage movement.
