Collection consists of biographical, occupational, and literary material by Elliott Barker, with a few items by his son Roy Barker. Included are also correspondence, newspaper clippings and essays; one Las Vegas High School Reunion memoir, Class of 1929.

History
Barker was a U.S. Forest Ranger and rancher in northern New Mexico before serving as State Game Warden from 1931 to 1953. He also published five books on his experiences as a hunter and game warden, as well as two volumes of cowboy poetry. He is considered the creator of Smokey Bear
