Scope and Content

Collection consists of materials about Lambert and the San Gabriel Dude Ranch. Includes several pamphlets and promotional items about the ranch, as well as clippings of articles about Lambert and his experiences as a cowboy. Also in the collection are the lyrics to several cowboy songs.

Biographical Note

E. V. (Jack) Lambert was born in Okarche, Oklahoma, in 1898. He worked as a cowboy, on cattle ranches in Wyoming and Utah before moving to New Mexico at twenty years of age. He became pack manager and guide at the historic San Gabriel Dude Ranch in Alcalde, and later estate manager for Amelia and Martha White, whose property is now the campus of The School of American Research.

He died at 93 in the year 1991. His wife, Marjorie Ferguson Lambert donated these records to the History Library.
