Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; the New Mexico Museum of Art; the San Diego Museum (now the San Diego Museum of Us); art exhibitions; the Taos Society of Artists; the Taos and Santa Fe art colonies; the American Federation of Arts; Pueblo pottery; New Mexico archaeology; and social issues such as child welfare. Includes correspondence with Lansing B. Bloom, Sheldon Parsons, Leila Mechlin, Walter Ufer, John Sloan, Harold L. Leupp, Frank H. H. Roberts, and others. Also includes a "Permit for Examination, Excavation, Restoration and Gathering of Objects of Antiquity" from the U.S. Department of Agriculture authorizing the School of American Research to perform archaeological excavations and restoration in the Santa Fe National Forest and Bandelier National Monument from May 1920-May 1922. Also includes four pages of notes on traditional "Pottery Making," shaping, and firing.
