Scope and Contents
Letters, forms, pamphlets, and telegrams related to the federal Public Works of Art Project (PWAP). Includes letters written by Gustave Baumann to artists and administrators involved with the project, primarily to Ed Rowan in Washington, D.C.; letters written by Ed Rowan to Baumann; correspondence to Baumann from Jesse Nusbaum, who served as chairman of the thirteenth regional committee for the PWAP; and a brief report of progress being made on the project in Arizona. While this file primarily contains correspondence related to the PWAP, it also contains some correspondence relating to the early years of federal programs established under the Works Progress Administration (WPA).
