Herbert and Lou Henry Hoover were close friends with Stephen and Mary Davis and remained in touch through occasional personal (handwritten and typed) letters. Davis worked for Herbert Hoover when he was Secretary of Commerce under U.S. Presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge.
