Scope and Contents

Papers and correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; summer field schools at Chaco Canyon and in Guatemala; the Departments of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of New Mexico and University of Southern California; excavation permit applications; collections of archaeological materials from the site of Pecos; the San Diego Museum (now the San Diego Museum of Us); Santo Domingo Pueblo/Kewa; the New Mexico State Library Extension Service; archaeological work at the sites of Chaco Canyon, Paa-ko, and Quarai; and FERA (Federal Emergency Relief Administration), CWA (Civil Works Administration), and CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) projects in New Mexico. Includes correspondence with individuals such as Reginald G. Fisher, Paul Walter Jr., Gov. Andrew W. Hockenhull, Hans Nordewin von Koerber, John P. Harrington, Ivan A. Lopatin, Warren King Moorehead, Frederick W. Hodge, Clyde Kluckhohn, Tsianina, R. Gordon Vivian, and others. Also includes the following: "The Chaco Canyon National Monument: Status of Lands Within the Monument" by Reginald G. Fisher; U.S. Weather Bureau Meteorological Records from the Chaco Canyon Station in March and April 1934; a paper titled "Committee on State Archaeological Surveys, Division of Anthropology and Psychology, National Research Council: Circular No. 5, July 11, 1930"; and "Rules and Regulations, Prescribed by the Science Commission of New Mexico with the Approval of the Commissioner of the State Land Office to Carry out the Provisions of the Act for the Preservation of the Scientific Resources of New Mexico."
