Papers and correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Archaeology; the Museum of New Mexico; the Archaeological Institute of America; Art and Archaeology magazine; field schools in the Jemez area and Chaco Canyon; the Archaeology and Anthropology departments at the University of New Mexico and the University of Southern California; the U.S. Office of Indian Affairs; the Santa Fe Indian Schools; the Santa Fe Navajo Rug Project; Pueblo pottery designs; the San Diego Museum (now the San Diego Museum of Us); and various personal and professional matters. Includes correspondence with Donizetta A. Hewett, Jesse L. Nusbaum, Kenneth M. Chapman, William Templeton Johnson, Ernest Thompson Seton, Mamie Ruth Tanquist Miller, Marjorie F. Lambert, Paul Walter, Jr., James Fulton Zimmerman, Clyde Kluckhohn, John Peabody Harrington, Percy Jackson, W. W. Postlethwaite, Arthur Stanley Riggs, and others. Also includes U.S. Weather Bureau meteorological records from the Chaco Canyon Station in 1933, as well as a memorandum about "Preparations for Advanced Graduate Work in Anthropology leading to the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology" at UNM.
