Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; archaeological work at Chaco Canyon, Puye Cliff Dwellings, Pecos, in the Jemez area, and near Alamogordo; summer field schools; cooperative work with the University of New Mexico; the Archaeological Institute of America; Hewett's book Ancient Life in the American Southwest; New Mexico's mission churches; and archaeological and museum business in Farmington, Grants, and Alamogordo, New Mexico. Includes correspondence with John Morrow, Wesley Bradfield, John Peabody Harrington, James Fulton Zimmerman, Earnest H. Lindley, Alfred Vincent Kidder, Albert Earnest Jenks, Richard Charles Dillon, Paul A. F. Walter, Paul Reiter, Odd S. Halseth, Barbara Freire-Marreco Aitken, and others. Also includes papers such as "A Program of Coordinated Southwestern Research," "Proposed Plan for the Study of the Sciences of Man in the Southwest," "Course in Museum Training, Prepared by the School of American Research," a "list of Museum of New Mexico material transferred to the Department of Anthropology, Junior College, Sacramento CA" in 1930, and a "Report on Grants Trip Nov. 28 and 29, 1930" by Paul Reiter.
