Scope and Contents

Correspondence, notes, meeting minutes, bulletins, memoranda, legislative bills, articles, poetry, songs, and other assorted papers about miscellaneous topics related to New Mexico. Topics include: the Museum of New Mexico; the Harveycar Courier Corps; national parks; the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway; New Mexico legislative bills; child welfare; education and Indian Schools; public health; the meetings and business of different Santa Fe and New Mexico organizations; the Santa Fe Community Theater; chautauquas; World War I; Chaco Canyon; student theses; poetry; and New Mexico history. Includes papers and documents such as: a packet on the "Conditions of Service and General Information for Applicants" for the Harveycar Courier Corps; bulletins of the National Parks Association; a paper titled "An American Plea for American Esthetics" by Marsden Hartley; "Minutes of the Meeting of the Child Welfare Board" in Santa Fe in 1919; the 1919 Constitution of the Santa Fe Community Theater; a paper titled "The Americanization of the Immigrant in New Mexico" from 1916; Edgar L. Hewett's "Director's Annual Report" from 1945; a handwritten article on "Tom Tobin" for El Palacio; a paper on "The Chaco Canyon Research Station"; pages from Laurence F. Lee's thesis on "Los Hermanos Penitentes" from the University of New Mexico in 1910; and several poems by John Curtis Underwood, Edgar L. Hewett, John Peabody Harrington, and others.
