Correspondence, certificates, membership papers, diplomas, letters of introduction and recommendation, and assorted papers concerning Edgar L. Hewett's personal and professional life and participation in various organizations and societies. Includes the following: correspondence and papers concerning Hewett's time at the University of Geneva; correspondence with Hewett's relatives about genealogical information; certificates of membership in various fraternities and Masonic societies; certificates from the Governor of New Mexico appointing Hewett as a Delegate of the State of New Mexico to various scientific and professional conferences; Hewett's Diploma for his Master of Pedagogy at the State Normal School of Colorado; certificates of membership in various academic and scientific societies and organizations; the dustjacket of Hewett's book Ancient Life in Mexico and Central America; a signed 1927 contract for Hewett's appointment as Professor of Anthropology and Archaeology and Head of the Department at the University of New Mexico; correspondence concerning Hewett's time as President of New Mexico Normal University (now New Mexico Highlands University); signed and sealed official copies of the United States Congress's "Act Incorporating the Archaeological Institute of America"; and letters and certificates from the Archaeological Institute of America and members of U.S. Congress introducing Hewett to foreign government officials.
