Correspondence with Frank Springer concerning the following topics: the School of American Archaeology/School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; Southwestern archaeology; the purchase of books and manuscripts from Central America; the Panama-California Exposition in San Diego, California; the New Mexico Museum of Art; the Archaeological Institute of America; and various personal and professional matters. Includes some papers concerning Hewett's tenure as President of New Mexico Normal University (now New Mexico Highlands University) from 1897 to 1903. Also includes correspondence with members of Springer's family after his death in 1927.
