Scope and Contents

Papers and correspondence concerning archaeologist and anthropologist Zelia Nuttall. Includes correspondence between Hewett and Nuttall concerning archaeological matters, the School of American Archaeology/School of American Research, publications, and Nuttall's home at Casa Alvarado in Coyoacan, Mexico City, Mexico. Also includes copies of the following papers by Nuttall: "New Lights Upon American Civilizations and the Calendar System," "The Observation of the Sun's Passage of the Zenith by the Ancient Inhabitants of Tropical America," "The Great Cuauhtemoc: Was He Buried in Monte Alban?" and "The Cult of the Sun at its Zenith in Ancient Mexico." Also includes a "List of the Publications of Zelia Nuttall (1886-1930)," "Papers on Mexican Archaeology and History by Zelia Nuttall," and a "List of the Principal Books and Pamphlets in the Library of the Late Mrs. Zelia Nuttall."
