Scope and Contents

Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; the Anthropology and Archaeology departments at the University of New Mexico and the University of Southern California; the Hewetts' travels to Peru and Bolivia; and WPA (Works Progress Administration) and CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) projects at New Mexico mission and pueblo ruins such as Pecos, Abó, Quarai, and Jemez. Includes papers and correspondence concerning plans for the transfer of the Chaco Canyon Archaeological Station, as well as the end of SAR involvement with archaeology field schools. Also includes correspondence and newspaper clippings concerning archaeological work by Bertha Dutton, Hulda Ruth Hobbs, and Barbara H. L. Loomis at Tajumulco in Guatemala.
