Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; the University of New Mexico; the University of Southern California; the Archaeological Institute of America; and summer field schools in the Jemez area and at Chaco Canyon. Includes correspondence with Arthur Seligman, Rufus Bernhard von Kleinsmid, James Fulton Zimmerman, Paul Walter Jr., Frances Densmore, Mamie Ruth Tanquist Miller, Charles J. Kappler, Louis E. Lord, and others. Also includes correspondence about a court case over mining stock willed to the School of American Research by Francis La Flesche, as well as a letter from President Rufus Bernhard von Kleinsmid informing Hewett of his appointment as Professor of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Southern California.
