Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; art exhibitions; the University of New Mexico; the State Teachers College of San Diego; the Santa Fe Fiesta; summer field schools; and archaeological work by Wesley Bradfield in the Mimbres Valley. Includes correspondence between Hewett, Paul A. F. Walter, and University of New Mexico President James Fulton Zimmerman regarding the founding of UNM's Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, Hewett's appointment as professor, and collaboration between UNM and the School of American Research. Also includes correspondence with Frederick Webb Hodge, Rollin Harvelle Tanner, Lydia J. Trowbridge, Ralph Van Deman Magoffin, Jesse Walter Fewkes, and others, as well as letters from Hewett to the governor and lieutenant governor of Santa Clara Pueblo/Kha'p'o Owingeh.
