Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research and its summer field school; the Museum of New Mexico; the Santa Fe Fiesta and Pueblo participation; Native American art and artists; archaeological work in New Mexico; the 1927 meeting of the American Academy of Political and Social Science; and various personal and professional matters. Includes correspondence with Paul A. F. Walter, Lansing B. Bloom, Hartley Burr Alexander, Neil Merton Judd, Wesley Bradfield, Eugenie Frederica Shonnard, Margery Bedinger, Lydia J. Trowbridge, Roman L. Baca, Richard Charles Dillon, Marguerite Rose Tew, Rollin Harvelle Tanner, L. S. Rowe, and others. Also includes a letter to Hewett from the governor and lieutenant-governor of Santa Clara Pueblo/Kha'p'o Owingeh, as well as a letter from the U.S. Department of the Interior granting Hewett and the School of American Research a three-year permit for archaeological excavations at Puye Cliff Dwellings.
