Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research and its summer field school; the Museum of New Mexico; the San Diego Museum (now the San Diego Museum of Us); the Santa Fe Fiesta; national parks; Harveycar Indian Detours; Native American languages; and a controversy over a proposed Cultural Center of the Southwest, or Southwest Chautauqua, in Santa Fe. Includes correspondence with Lansing B. Bloom, Paul A. F. Walter, Hartley Burr Alexander, Anna Osler Shepard, Tsianina, Arthur Stanley Riggs, Wesley Bradfield, Rollin Harvelle Tanner, Percy Jackson, Charlotte W. Arnold, Odd S. Halseth, and others. Also includes a copy of a "Memorandum by Professor Franz Boas on the Study of Native American Languages," and a list of "The 51 Franciscan Frailes Martyred in the Custody of New Mexico, 1542-1731."
