Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; the San Diego Museum (now the San Diego Museum of Us); the Santa Fe Fiesta; the American Association for the Advancement of Science; the Hewetts' injuries from a car accident in the Middle East; and various personal and professional matters. Includes correspondence with Evon Z. Vogt, Esther Boise Van Deman, Rose Dougan, Elliott C. Prentiss, Lansing B. Bloom, Paul A. F. Walter, Eva Scott Fényes, Ralph Emerson Twitchell, Albert T. Clay, Manuel Gamio, Ralph Van Deman Magoffin, Edgar L. Street, Hartley Burr Alexander, William E. Pate, Leila Mechlin, Anna Osler Shepard, Native American singer Oskenonton, and others. Also includes a "Permit for Examination, Excavation, Restoration and Gathering of Objects of Antiquity" from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, granting permission to the School of American Research to conduct archaeological work on ruins in the Santa Fe National Forest and Bandelier National Monument for three years from May 22, 1922.
