Scope and Contents

Correspondence concerning the following topics: the School of American Research; the Museum of New Mexico; the New Mexico Museum of Art; art exhibitions; the Taos and Santa Fe art colonies; the Taos Society of Artists; the Santa Fe Fiesta; and archaeological excavations at Chaco Canyon and in the Jemez area. Includes correspondence with Lansing B. Bloom, Tsianina, J. C. Troutman, Laura Anna Fry, C. T. Currelly, and Bertha J. Nordhaus, as well as with artists such as Tonita Peña, Walter Ufer, Warren E. Rollins, Joseph Henry Sharp, Ernest L. Blumenschein, Gustave Baumann, B. J. O. Nordfeldt, and Olive Rush. Also includes an "Invoice of Specimens" donated to the Museum of New Mexico from the Smithsonian Institution's U.S. National Museum in 1921, which consisted of hammerstones and obsidian specimens.
