Biographical / Historical
Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) was an American photographer and promoter of photography as an art form. He met the painter Georgia O'Keeffe in 1917 and, after divorcing his first wife, married her in 1924. Over a period of twenty years he made more than 300 individual portraits of O'Keeffe that remain unique and compelling in their ability to capture many facets of a single subject.

Scope and Content
Collection consists of two letters, one dated June 21, 1930, to Charles Collier from Alfred Stieglitz. Stieglitz writes that he is enclosing a money order, is glad Collier's trip went well and mentions the shrinkage of the market value. The second letter, dated September 18, 1981, to Ansel Adams from Charles Collier expresses that he wants to sell three portraits made and mounted by Alfred Stieglitz and writes about meeting with Georgia O'Keeffe and about O'Keeffee's and his continued...
