The collection contains historical information about the Jose Felipe Castillo family. This includes photographs and documentation pertaining to both the original and rebuilt Castillo family houses and family chapel (Our Lady of Refuge). The original house contained an attached chapel, and was built in 1878 by Franciso Castillo y Pino, father of Jose Felipe Castillo in Sauzal, New Mexico, which is south of Belen and near Las Nutrias.
