Abstract This collection contains David Brugge's research used to assist the Navajo Nation in their land claims, in particular the case, Healing vs. Jones, resulting from the Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute. Abstract This collection contains three volumes of a detailed manuscript written by George Peter Hammond entitled "Navajo-Hopi Relations," which addresses the history of these two tribes between 1540 and 1956. The subtext speaks to the role of the U.S. government and military, missionaries, and other tribes in those relations.
Scope and Content The Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute Documents, 1854-1984, are not a comprehensive body of material dealing with the land problem and relocation.
